Ingredients
- 2 quarts vegetable or canola oil
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
- 3 eggs
- ½ cup hot pepper sauce, like Tabasco
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 (3 to 4 lb.) chicken, cut into 8 pieces
Directions
- Start by heating a large pot or deep fryer over medium-high heat until it reaches approximately 350°F.
- In a small bowl, blend the garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and then set aside. In a shallow bowl, beat together the eggs and hot sauce, whilst in an additional shallow dish or pie tin, lay out the flour.
- Preheat your oven to 200°F.
- Sprinkle the garlic mixture across all sides of the chicken pieces, and then dip each one into the egg mixture, eliminating any excess flour. Place the chicken parts into the skillet, cover with a lid, and cook for about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Discard the lid, turn the chicken, and cook for an extra 8 to 10 minutes until the chicken pieces achieve a pleasant golden color and their center temperature reads 165°F.
- Now your succulent broasted-style chicken is all set to serve with your choice of side dishes! Bon Appétit!
